This policy explains how Lakelytics (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects and uses personal data when you use our website and services, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

Lakelytics is a trading name of [[Company legal name — confirm]], a company registered in England and Wales (company number [[Companies House number — confirm]]). Our registered address is [[Street address]], [[Town/City]], [[Postcode]], United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Our ICO registration number is [[ICO registration number — confirm]].

What data we collect

  • Enquiry data — when you submit the demo/contact form: your name, fishery or lake name, email, optional phone number, number of lakes and any message you send.
  • Account & service data — if you become a customer: contact and billing details, the lakes and devices on your account, and the sensor readings your stations record.
  • Usage data — limited, privacy-friendly analytics about how the website is used (see our cookie policy).
  • Communications — records of emails, calls and support messages between us.

How and why we use it (lawful bases)

  • To respond to enquiries and provide quotes — on the basis of taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
  • To provide the monitoring service — to perform our contract with you, including sending alerts and showing your data in the app.
  • To run and improve our website — on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating a secure, useful site.
  • To send service messages and, with consent, marketing — you can opt out of marketing at any time.
  • To meet legal and accounting obligations.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with service providers who help us run our business — for example hosting, form handling, email, analytics, connectivity/SIM providers, and payment processors — and only as needed. We do not sell your personal data. Providers act under contract and, where data leaves the UK, we use appropriate safeguards. [[List your key processors here.]]

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry data for up to [[period]] if you don’t become a customer, customer records for the life of the contract and as long as needed afterwards for legal and accounting reasons, and sensor data for [[period]]. We then delete or anonymise it.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict your data, to object to certain processing, and to data portability. To exercise any right, email info@lakelytics.com.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we’d appreciate the chance to help first.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.
